Tranquil Photo Contest and Photo Classes

Residents of Tranquil are hosting a Tranquil Photo Contest and Photo Classes.

Tranquil residents DanD Rau and Sazzy Oh have organized a Tranquil photo contest and classes. Here are the basic details. The Theme is "Tranquil Colors", and entries must be submitted no later than June 14 for the photo contest. Photography classes will be held at the Tranquil Cafe on Sunday June 7 at 7amslt and 4pmslt. There will be $1000 Linden awarded to winner.

MetaMeets 2009 Amsterdam

MetaMeets 2009 Amsterdam, was a European conference addressing the present and future of user-created virtual worlds such as Second Life, Active Worlds, OpenSim and more. Part of MetaMeets09 was a live concert at Molly Malones Pub in Amsterdam by Al Hofmann, Xander Nichting and JooZz. On Friday the 22nd of May they met for the first time in real life

This was a mixed reality event. The live show was simultaneously streamed into Second Life platform where about 100 people were gathered at the virtual Blarney Stone pub. Several other sites/platforms were broadcasting this unique event as well. At the end of the individual sets, JooZz (piano & bass), Willy Sparrow (midi guitar) and Xander Nichting (electric 6-string violin) jammed a little.

Last Chance: Flash Fiction Contest Call for Submissions

This notice arrived early this morning from the TLE Educational Network:

Submit flash fiction stories up to 500 words, related to the theme of the Speakeasy Event: prohibition, speakeasies, 1920s-1930s, the mafia, '20s and '30s era outlaws, and so on. Prizes of 1000L, 500L, 250L awarded to top three stories chosen by a panel of judges. All entries to be included in anthology published in SL. DEADLINE: 11:59 pm SLT Sunday, May 31. Metropolis

This is a re-make of the classic science fiction movie (1927 Silent Film by Fritz Lang) in SL, created by CARP. If you haven't experienced a presentation by this group yet, be prepared for a breathtaking experience where you fly in your seats and the camera steers your view. I had the opportunity to see this, their latest release both pre and post production. If you decide to go, be there early because the sim fills fast.

Avatar Repertory Theater Presents Shakespeare at the Pavilion

Please join the company of the Avatar Repertory Theater as they present scenes from some of Shakespeare's great works. Listen again to the music and poetry found in Julius Caesar, Hamlet, As You Like It, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Twelfth Night. Actors from around the world will gather to speak the speeches and give life to the words that continue to resonate in this 21st century.

On Sunday May 24 the Quilters in SL group will offer at auction a quilt that was constructed from blocks donated by group members. The quilt is one-of-a-kind and will be a prize conversation piece for your business or your home. The Auction Party will begin at 4:30pmslt with MrMulti Writer performing his lovely covers and originals to get everyone in the mood for the auction and will follow the auction with more music til 6:00pmslt. The Quilt will be auctioned at 5:00pmslt to the highest bidder.

The auction and the live concert will be held at Tranquil Commons and the quilt is currently on display there until the auction on Sunday.

Jay Dobyns, the ATF Special agent who infiltrated the Hells Angels as an undercover cop. Come and hear Jay be interviewed and read from his book, chat to him and be filmed by Treet TV. To celebrate his UK launch there will be free books to be won by UK members of the audience.

Luminos, the Gallery Grand Opening


Gallery Grand Opening 6-9 p.m. . . . Free art, music and dancing


Luminos, the Gallery will hold its grand opening tonight from 6 until 9 p.m. Second Life time. The work of real-life photographer Luminos Silvercloud features an eclectic range of subjects and styles. As a RL photojournalist, fashion and fine art photographer Luminos has learned an approach to photography which invites viewers to see the world from a different point of view.
Just for the night of the grand opening a special freebie version of "The Dip" will e available to all gallery visitors. At the close of the grand opening "The Dip" will only be available in SL as a limited edition print.


The bottom floor of the two-story gallery features fine art photography and selections from his work as a photojournalist. Upstairs the collection is comprised of his fashion, glamour and fine art nudes.
