Live Art Auctions every Friday at the Artisan Castle

Friday's are not one of my normal virtual world days so I haven't had a chance to check this out as of yet.  Not sure I'll be able to today, but hope to in the near future. It looks to an interesting business model.

Live Art Auction 5:30 PM, SLT (PST)
See the items up for bid in the live auction
Browse all the bid boards placed around the castle
There is some extraordinary art to bid on aside from the live auction items

The Artisan Castle deals exclusively  in one of a kind artwork
never sold before in Second Life nor will it be again
                                           unless by the original purchaser

Please honor us with your visit to the Artisan Castle
We look forward to seeing you every Friday.

Avalon Town to Hold Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fundraiser

Good friend and manager of Avalon Town, Tricia Aferdita sent out the announcement below. Definitely a good cause to be involved with and with the season theme, it looks to be a fun as well.

Bid4aCure’s Annual Date Auction Today in Second Life

Bid4aCure is a fund-raiser event and is in its fifth year. The group raises  money for diabetes research for member organizations of the International Diabetes Federation: Diabetes UK and the American Diabetes Association. Each year in Second Life the group hold its signature Bid4aCure Date Auction to raise money for  which the proceeds are shared equally between the member organizations.

I'd become aquatinted with the cause, along with Jocelyn Sands and team that runs Bid4aCure two years ago when I interviewed her for an article which appeared in the SL Newspaper. The cause itself had become a personal one for me that year and I am grateful for both the efforts put forth by Ms Sands and the Bid4aCure crew. Each year since, I have provided my support for them. Last year the team raised over 900,000, which when you take in account the global economy, it was a remarkable success.  As noted previously, the high light event of the drive and favorite of mine is the date auction. Yours truly had been on the block two years running and will again this year.

Event Date: Sunday September 25, 2011

Event Time:  11 AM PDT/SLT until it ends

Event Location: Bid4aCure Event Park

Even if you're not interested in the bidding, do stop by and make a contribution and enjoying the entertainment of the event itself.

Hope to see you all there.

Survivors & Caregivers Art Show and Auction

The note card arrived when I had been off line and when I had the chance after I'd logged in-world, I ported over to look around.  With pieces donated by RAG Randt, Miso Susanowa, Trill Zapatero, Gracie Kendal, Feathers Boa …. I could go on and on here, but it'll be easier to attach the list Tricia Aferdita provided. A worthy cause and good art to view and or bid on. Enjoy!

The RFL Survivor/Caregiver Committee exists to honor cancer survivors and cancer caregivers during the RFL of SL fundraising season, and during Relay.

Toward this end, we bring you the Annual RFL Survivors/Caregivers Art Show & Auction!

Beginning on Sunday, June 12th, 2011 at Noon SLT, the public viewing and the Silent(scripted)Bid Auction will take place on the American Cancer Society sim. This part of the event will run an entire week, ending on Saturday, June 18th at 11:59pm.

Once the Silent Bid Auction has ended, everyone will be notified. Those with the winning bids will automatically be sent instructions on what to do next.

The Live Auction will take place on Sunday, June 19th at 2pm SLT. Come early to get a good seat. Woodstock Burleigh is again our Auctioneer. Thanks Woodstock!

Use the attached Landmark to come and take stroll around looking at the fabulous artwork. You just may see a piece of art that you just have to have.

All proceeds will go the RFL of SL General Donations. To help in the fight against cancer, not only where you live, but internationally.

Art Donations for PeaceFest 09 Auction

A group notice from SL resident and good friend Siri Vita greeted my arrival in world on Sunday afternoon. Ms Vita is one of several members of the team that is planning for "PeaceFest '09". This year's festival is scheduled for early August. PeaceFest '09 is "a global, interfaith, cross-cultural effort to create lasting peace through mobilizing support and learning for RL Peace organizations". Organizers are currently setting up works of art that will be auctioned during the festival. She is asking patrons and artists in Second Life for donations to the cause.

Proceeds from this year's festival will go to benefit the following RL organizations:

The Edith Benson Babies Home in South Africa
Amnesty International's work to end child soldiering
Peace Direct - the Escuela for peacebuilders, in Colombia, South Africa

She asks that any donated pieces be sent to her (Siri Vita). They will be part of the auction taking place at Cedar Island during the festival.

More information can be obtained on the PeaceFest '09 web site, including plans, schedule of events, how to donate and stories to share.
